Reliability and Projects Manager

La Porte, TX

As a Reliability and Projects Manager at the La Porte, TX site, you will have ownership for the overall reliability strategy for the site including Mechanical Integrity programs.  You will also have ownership of overall project execution strategy for the site and for our sites annual and five year project outlook.  

The INVISTA La Porte site is a growing, world class Intermediates manufacturing facility producing chemicals and polymers for end uses including but not limited to Spandex Fibers, Polyurethane, Pharmaceuticals, and a wide variety of engineering plastics.
Located on the Houston Ship Channel, about 25 minutes from downtown Houston and near the Johnson Space Center, Galveston, and many other Gulf Coast locations of interest. The area offers an excellent quality of life with universities, major league sports, restaurants, recreation areas, resort beaches and all the attractions of one of the fastest growing population centers in the United States right at your fingertips.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure Integration of Reliability efforts with site Key Risks and EHS efforts

- Ensure key EHS and reliability risks for the site are identified based on consequence of an event and that proactive strategies are in place to mitigate the risk (controls in place to minimize the probability of event).

-Lower EHS risks by effectively implementing reliability strategies (reduce failures, reduce number of startup and shutdowns, provide more predictable, consistent operation, etc.).

  • Quantify and communicate total economic impact of reliability. Use measures to drive performance and evaluate progress.
  • Ensure each production area has identified availability goals.
  • Provide oversight to reliability metrics to raise awareness and drive culture across the site. Use Lost Opportunities (unplanned events), Availability and
  • Utilization as key reliability value metrics that demonstrate reliability in financial terms.

- Identify key leading indicators to focus on

  • Work with site leadership team to develop a culture where reliability risks are clearly identified and communicated and each employee understands the role that they play in mitigating the key risks.
  • Ensure Integration of the INVISTA capital projects Work Process into the site project culture
  • Quantify and communicate total economic impact of project execution. Use measures to drive performance and evaluate progress.
  • Support Turnaround management program and the execution of projects within Turnarounds.
  • Responsible for management of a large project or multiple projects in the range of $25M to $15MM to meet INVISTA Sponsors Objectives including cost and schedule
  • Accountable for all phases of project development, planning, teaming and work execution utilizing internal as well as external resources
  • Plan, direct and lead the work assignments for the functional engineers that are assigned to the specific project or group of projects
  • Establishes and maintain the team's focus, aligning project strategy, execution approach and associated risk with business and operations key drivers
  • Oversee project safety, quality and maintenance requirements while executing work in accordance with INVISTA policies, procedures, systems, and requirements
  • Maintain active interface with management for progress, commitments and change management
  • Ensure that INVISTA project best practices and tools are utilized

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • At least 5 years of project management across all project phases experience within a chemical or petrochemical facility
  • At least 5 years reliability engineering experience with in chemical or petrochemical facility
  • Experience managing large capital projects with a range up to15MM.
  • Bachelor Degree or higher in Engineering

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

  • At least 10 years project related experience (with at least 3 years project manager experience as an employee of a chemical/petrochemical company)
  • Project group leadership experience
  • Experience with Environmental related projects
  • Professional Engineers License

Title:  Project Engineer

Salary:  $27.17-$32.27/hr, DOE        

Work Schedule: M-F, 8am – 5pm 

Job Description:

Organizes and manages public work capital improvement projects including water, wastewater, street, drainage and rail. Supervises Engineering Inspection personnel. Acts as contract administrator for various projects.  Meets with city employees, federal, state and county representatives to plan and budget projects; to ensure compliance with all applicable rules, regulations and ordinances; and respond to citizen requests for work and information.  Supervises field crews when needed.  Reviews subdivisions.  Requires a bachelor of science degree in engineering from an engineering curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET).  Structural or Transportation experience preferred.  Position requires 4 years of civil engineering experience.  Official licensure as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas is required.  Requires knowledge of municipal engineering.  Valid Texas Driver’s License with acceptable driving record required. Punctuality and regular attendance are required.

Environmental Professional

Houston, Texas

 

The position of Environmental Professional requires a diverse background in the Environmental Consulting field.  Typical responsibilities will include performance on Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), biological surveys, Section 404 compliance, hazardous materials evaluations, soil and ground water contamination issues, and post-closure tasks for landfill facilities. The position requires 5 to 10 years of applicable experience and recognizable technical expertise. 

 

In this capacity the Professional’s responsibilities encompass supporting a successful business practice in R K’s environmental business.  In this role the Professional shall be assigned project management responsibilities ranging from scope development, budget and proposal preparation, short list interviews, engineering and production work, and project/client meetings.  The Professional actively participates in the day-to-day environmental business of the Houston office including planning and execution of projects.

Conducts ESA projects, Conducts Phase II and III projects, Conducts Section 404 compliance tasks, Conducts or assists in conducting "walk-throughs" of project sites for the purpose of preparing proposals for projects, Conducts Biological surveys, Writes reports, Coordinates activities of subcontractors on projects, Assists in preparation of proposals, Performs other project requirements as needed.

 

Bachelors in a scientific or engineering field; 5 to 10 years applicable experience.

 

The Professional is expected to lead by example and set high standards for creativity and inter-office and intra-office cooperation and assist in developing and maintaining staffing levels and competencies consistent with the department’s type of work and volume.

This position, reporting to the Vice President-Administrative & Financial Services, provides senior oversight, planning, management and leadership for the College's capital construction projects, ensuring that resources are spent wisely by seeking efficiencies while adhering to appropriate standards.


Responsibilities include:

  • Plans and oversees construction projects to insure each project meets user functionality requirements within the determines project budget.
  • Oversees and administers construction projects to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, laws, and guidelines.
  • Develops plans and budget estimates for identified college construction projects to ensure that they are adequately funded and funding sources are maximized.
  • Directs and coordinates the initiation of contracts with architectural/engineering firms, construction management firms and general contractors for compliance with contract specifications, terms and conditions.
  • Insures that each party meets all contractual obligations.
  • Prepares drafts of Board agenda items, facility reports to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and other reports as needed.
  • Develops plans to improve the college’s utilization of existing space.

 

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction science or related field of study from an accredited college or university.
  • Licensure by the State of Texas as an Architect or Professional Engineer preferred.
  • Five years of relevant work experience in the construction industry that shows progressive responsibility to professional levels comparable to the execution of duties and responsibilities.

Graduate Engineer

Houston, Texas

 

The Graduate Engineer’s primary responsibility will be to perform geotechnical engineering investigations and studies in a timely and accurate manner within the specified budget, under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer.  This will include laying-out borings, coordinating with sub-contractors for utility locating, site clearing, and drilling, engineering observation at new and existing building sites, direction and oversight of field exploration, field classification of samples, preparing field boring logs, storing and transporting samples, assigning laboratory testing, interpretation of engineering data, performing engineering calculations and the preparation of written engineering reports in accordance with prescribed standards. Secondary responsibilities will include assisting the testing laboratory staff in the day to day operations.  In addition, managing assigned projects and participating in assigned marketing responsibilities will be required. The Graduate Engineer must also possess good communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with building occupants, fellow Raba-Kistner employees, clients and the general public. 

 

Possess certification as an Engineer-in-Training for the State of Texas or ability to achieve within 6 months of employment; Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and Master’s Degree with a Geotechnical Engineering emphasis from an ABET accredited school.
