82nd Legislative Session Recap
The 82nd Legislative Session proved to be both challenging and rewarding for PEs. We are thrilled to report that through hard work and grassroots involvement the end result is several significant accomplishments for TSPE. We fought for and preserved QBS, and defeated countless intentional and unintentional encroachments on our scope of practice. In difficult budget times, we fought for and were successful in securing funding for MATHCOUNTS. We also will see an additional $3 billion for transportation projects through the appropriation of debt service for Proposition 12 bonds, the reauthorization of TxDOT and TCEQ through the sunset process, a sunset provision for new dam safety exemptions, and a legislative compromise on the architecture/engineering scope of practice dispute.
