Alejandra Marco, P.E., CFM, ENV SPTSPE El Paso Chapter | Project Manager, AECOMWhy are you involved in TSPE? I wanted to be part of an organization that is truly dedicated to preserving the integrity of engineering practice. By being involved with TSPE, we’re not just supporting our own professional growth—we’re contributing to the strength and well-being of the entire engineering community. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see the positive impact the organization has, from training and engagement to helping the community grow and evolve. Being part of this work reminds me of the power we have, together, to lift each other up and ensure that our profession remains a force for good.
Now that you have practiced engineering in the professional world, would you go back and major in something different? Absolutely not. The more I practice engineering, the more I realize there’s no limit to what we can achieve and the positive impact we can have on our communities. Our work is deeply tied to the growth and well-being of society, and being part of that is incredibly fulfilling. Knowing that what we do helps build a stronger, safer, and more connected world makes every challenge worth it. It’s a privilege to be part of something so meaningful. Bio
I was born in Chihuahua, Mexico and moved to El Paso in 2006 where I went to school and graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso. I moved to Austin for 4 years but eventually came back to what I proudly call my hometown, El Paso. I started my professional career as a field engineer in construction and found my way to drainage design. I have over 14 years of experience including construction, hydrology and hydraulic (H&H) engineering, and floodplain management. I am a licensed professional engineer in the state of Texas and New Mexico, Certified Floodplain Manager, and an envision sustainability professional. I am a proud mom to a boy and a girl, love to travel, going to concerts, helping the community, going to church, and singing karaoke. |
