Frequently Asked Questions

Below are the common, general eligibility requirements for our scholarships. Please visit each scholarship's individual application page for details on that specific scholarship's guidelines.

  1. Must be an undergraduate/graduate student currently enrolled or admitted to an ABET-accredited engineering program at a Texas university. (Please note: high school seniors would not be eligible to apply for either scholarship).
  2. Must be a full-time student.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  4. Must submit a completed application via the online scholarship application form by March 21, 2025 and have your official transcript forwarded to TEF by your university with a postmark date no later than March 21, 2025.

Please visit the official ABET-accredited program search tool  and enter the name of your university to confirm. If your school is not listed and you think it may be an error, please get in touch with your university's faculty.

If you consider yourself an undergraduate student in a combined program, you should apply for the undergraduate scholarship - and vice versa. You may not apply for both scholarships.

The current deadline for scholarship applications is March 21, 2025 for the online application and March 21, 2025 postmark date for your official transcript sent by your college/university.

During the selection process, if it is determined that you do not meet the eligibility requirements, your application will not be considered. Additionally, if our staff has any questions about your application or missing information, we may reach out. Once the scholarship recipients have been selected, you will be notified whether or not you received the scholarship.

Scholarship recipients will be announced prior to the end of your spring school semester and will be notified via email.

Scholarship selection is based on the following criteria: a student's academic standing, financial need, and potential contribution to the engineering profession. Selection is determined by the Board of Trustees of the Texas Engineering Foundation.

All scholarship recipients will be required to submit the following information:

  • Enrollment Verification Form - you will need to fill out a form to submit to your college's registrar office. The registrar office will verify enrollment and attendance then send the form to the state office so that funds can be sent.

Scholarship recipients will also be asked to provide the following:

  • Headshot/Bio - this will be used to publicize our scholarship winners and may be shared on our website, social media, and emails. There are no specific requirements for the headshot or the length of the bio.

If you are selected as a scholarship recipient, a check will be sent to your university's financial office to be applied against your college tuition in Fall 2025. A completed Enrollment Verification Form will also need to be returned to us prior to funds being sent.
