Felicia Jackson, P.E., CFM

TSPE Preston Trail Chapter
North Dallas Metro Municipal Department Manager, CEC

Why are you involved in TSPE?

I joined TSPE after I learned about a bill that threatened PE licensure.  Both TSPE and NSPE  were heavily involved in not only advocating to protect the license but on educating what the effect would be if the bill passed. For that reason, I joined TSPE soon after moving to Texas a little over six years ago. Knowing that TSPE continues to advocate to protect our PE license is what keeps me involved.

How do you manage work/life balance personally or within your company?

I am very fortunate to work for a company that encourages their employees to have a work/life balance.  Working with a great team allows me to have the flexibility when I need it.  I also have a wonderful support base at home.  My husband and kids are my loudest cheerleaders.

How has mentorship helped you in your career or helped you in leading your team?

When I began my professional career, I didn’t have what one would call a traditional mentor. However, there were a few key people who provided guidance along the way at different stages throughout my career. They were very instrumental in giving me the tools and support I needed to find success. When someone sought me out as a mentor, it not only gave me the opportunity to support and give guidance to someone else on their professional journey, but it was also an accomplishment for me personally.
