Member Spotlight - Roberto Yanez
Roberto Yanez, P.E.TSPE Bexar Chapter Director 2Field Supervisor, Raba-Kistner, Inc.Why are you involved in TSPE? I joined TSPE in the fall of 2021 with the aim to attend PE Leadership Institute (PELI). During the program, I realized how much TSPE is working for all engineers in Texas, the core values of the organization, and how similar they are to my personal values. After this realization, I joined the Bexar Chapter in San Antonio and I am currently serving as Director 2. How has mentorship helped you in your career or helped you in leading your team? Mentorship has helped me tremendously to skyrocket my professional development. One of my mentors, Blake Wright, asked me if I was interested to learn about leadership and recommended me to apply to the PE Leadership Institute Class of 2022 (Go Class 11!!). He asked me to thoroughly review and understand the full commitment of the program, which I agreed to, and fortunately I was accepted into the program.
Bio
Hi! I’m Roberto, originally from Tampico, which means translates to “place of otters” in Huastec language (Mexico)! I came to the United States in 2010 to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree from The University of Texas Rio
Grande Valley and graduated in 2015. I have close to a decade of work experience in materials testing and geotechnical engineering. I am currently a project manager for Raba-Kistner, Inc. and have been in this role for the past four years.
I obtained my professional engineering license in March of this year and I am so very proud of this important achievement in my career.
