Tanya Lindquist, P.E.

TSPE Greater Houston Chapter
Assistant Vice President, TranSystems

Why are you involved in TSPE?

In 2021, I became a TSPE member when my company offered me an amazing opportunity to attend the PE Leadership Institute (PELI), Class 11. The program was instrumental in my personal and professional growth here at TranSystems and has allowed me to be the leader I need to be for our Houston office. I also met some amazing TSPE members with whom I continue to exchange professional development ideas.

How do you manage work/life balance personally or within your company?

Earlier in my career, my days mostly involved work with little time for myself. I remember the days of pulling all-nighters to meet deadlines. Now that I have a family, it is important that I am there for my husband and kids. I am very proud of my profession and the things that I have accomplished being a working mom, but it wouldn’t have been possible without the strong support of my husband and family. I’m also blessed to work at a company that allows me that flexibility to work from home when necessary.

As a recovering people pleaser, I’ve learned (and still learning) that it’s okay to say “no” and understand what is truly important. Through professional and personal development that comes from experience and leadership programs like PELI, I continue to move towards my optimal work/life balance.

Bio

Born in Jamaica and raised in the Houston area, I followed in my father’s footsteps, becoming a Civil Engineer. Over the past 19 years, my experience in the civil design of transportation projects have ranged from suburban collectors, urban thoroughfares, and rural highways to urban freeways/tollways.

A wife to my high school sweetheart and the mother of two amazing boys, family time is of utmost importance to me. In my spare time, I enjoy watching my sons play sports. I am a proud graduate of the University of Houston. Go Coogs!
