Who is Eligible for Membership?


Member

You have either a valid license as a Professional Engineer in the U.S. or Canada, or an Engineer-In-Training or Engineering Intern certification issued under the laws of any state, territory, possession or district of the U.S., or its international equivalent. A person who has graduated with a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited engineering curriculum may also apply for provisional status as a member for up to two years to achieve the full requirements for member grade.

Student Member

You are a student enrolled full-time in an ABET-accredited engineering program, an engineering or pre-engineering program that has a transfer agreement with one or more ABET accredited engineering programs, or are full-time in a graduate-level engineering program. Student membership is free and grants access to student resources such as the NSPE Job Board, eligibility to apply for NSPE scholarships, and free web seminars on ethics and professional development topics.

Graduated Dues Program

NSPE offers discounted membership dues to recent college graduates of ABET-accredited schools and/or programs. If qualified, recent grads will join NSPE at a discounted rate of up to 80% off of full dues five years after graduation.

Enterprise Member

Enterprise membership allows a company to sponsor NSPE membership for multiple employee engineers and the ability to pay through one invoice a year.

Retired Member

A member shall be eligible for retired-member status if the person has been a continuous member of NSPE for a period of 25 years and has retired from active practice. A member granted retired-member status shall receive a waiver of one-half dues annually. The dues collected will be distributed proportionally based on the service tier.

Life Member

A member shall become eligible for life-member dues status if the person has been a continuous member of  TSPE/NSPE for a period of 40 years. A member granted life-member status shall receive a waiver of dues. Life members will be encouraged to make a voluntary contribution to TSPE.
